TITLE: SECRETARY TO THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL – HIGH SCHOOL
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma and one or more years equivalent or related clerical experience.
- Ability to use a variety of computers and software packages to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
- Good communication and listening skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely manner.
- Good organizational skills with ability to tolerate constant interruptions.
REPORTS TO: Principal and Assistant Principal
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Provide word processing and clerical support through answering questions from students, parents and staff; creating, editing and preparing computer generated reports, forms and documents; updating, maintaining and troubleshooting computer programs for school records; compiling and copying forms, booklets and handouts; and assisting teachers and other staff with all facets of the copy machine.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work effectively at a computer for long periods of time; finger dexterity and endurance to enter data quickly and accurately; mobility in and around the office/school; and ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide clerical support by answering phones, answering questions from students, parents, visitors and staff.
- Maintain all attendance records, run reports & attendance letters.
- Keep demographic information up-to-date.
- Handle students with attendance or discipline problems.
- Deficiencies are done quarterly and mailed. Report cards are processed quarterly.
- Perform nursing duties, take temps, assist with injuries, take care of ill students, distribute medications, and learn to give shots.
- Enroll new students, getting them set up in our computer system.
- Keep inventory for the Brookings High School up-to-date throughout the year.
- Change student’s schedules throughout the year.
- Work with scheduling during summer months, fixing conflicts, rearranging schedules to even class sizes, getting schedules ready for students to start school.
- Perform many miscellaneous office duties, filing, copier maintenance, distributing supplies, and assisting with other projects as assigned by the Principal and Vice Principal.
- Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The Board shall offer a letter of agreement with wages and benefits to be determined by the board as delineated in the Master Agreement.
EVALUATION PROCEDURE:
This position is responsible to the building principal(s) and the performance of this position will be evaluated by the building principal(s).
