High School Assistant Principal

 

 

TITLE:                                  ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL – HIGH SCHOOL

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Education:  Master’s Degree in educational administration with program emphasis in secondary or elementary instruction.
  2. Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
    1. Ability to understand instructional problems and to assist teachers in their solution;
    2. Knowledge of trends in high school education and ability to convey and interpret them to staff; Ability to conceptualize the total high school program;
    3. Ability to supervise clerical personnel;
    4. Ability to work with supplementary service personnel;
    5. Knowledge of school accounting and budgeting;
    6. Ability to organize administrative services.
  3. Experience:  Experience as a teacher mandatory.  Experience as a principal or administrative intern desirable.

 

REPORTS TO:                     High School Principal

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible for providing assistance to the Principal in the administration of the total school program.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Up and down motion in the office; bending stretching; and lifting up to 20 pounds.  Mobility in and around office/school area.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, parents and students
  2. Supervises attendance and discipline
  3. Supervises all scheduling and classification of all students
  4. Share responsibilities for the supervision and evaluation of all staff members
  5. Annually builds a master schedule
  6. Assists in the orientation of new teachers and with the in service education of the faculty
  7. Share responsibilities for orientation of all students and helps to promote a positive wholesome attitude in all students in order to develop a high degree of loyalty to the school and community
  8. Assigned, at various times, to carry out all the functions assigned to the building principal
  9. Assists with the supervision of security as it pertains to parking lots and the building in general
  10. Meets with parents and students to develop, write and communicate 504 accommodations
  11. Attends IEP meetings as administrative representative
  12. Supervises students and spectators at school activities and functions
  13. Assists in the supervision of building maintenance and custodial staff
  14. Assists in the assignment of all teachers and other staff members
  15. Acts in an advisory capacity to the principal in matters relating to the formulation and execution of school policies
  16. Assists in developing and maintaining all safety and emergency programs such as conducting fire and severe weather drills
  17. Works with teachers, students, and parents in solving classroom problems
  18. Works with students in solving personal problems related to school
  19. Supervises the school when the Principal is absent from the building

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Length of contract: 208 days

 

EVALUATION PROCEDURE:

This position will be evaluated annually by the School Principal
