Brookings Transition to Employment Program Coordinator (Project SEARCH)

 

 

 

TITLE:                      BROOKINGS TRANSITION TO EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM COORDINATOR

                                   

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree required, holding current South Dakota certification in education and endorsement in special education, or possess the ability to become properly certified and endorsed by the start of assignment.
  2. Pass all required employment screenings.
  3. Possess the ability and desire to work with young adults with special education needs.

 

REPORTS TO:         Director of Special Services

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Plan and direct the instructional program for the Brookings Transition to Employment Program.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Up and down motion in the office; bending stretching; and lifting up to 40 pounds.  Mobility in and around office/school area.

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Develop, implement and oversee a comprehensive education/work training program for post-secondary level student s in need of special education, following the defined scope of sequence required as a licensed Project SEARCH site or other such program
  2. Collaborate and coordinate with work-based partners.
  3. Lead a steering committee for the program.
  4. Maintain all appropriate records for the program, including student progress monitoring, attendance, incident reports, assessments and any other pertinent educational records deemed necessary.
  5. Establish and maintain effective communication with parents, district and university staff as well as steering committee members on program needs, student progress, and other pertinent matters.
  6. Conduct student progress meetings, conduct IEP meetings for students in the program, attend steering committee meetings and other regional/state meetings with regards to Project SEARCH.
  7. Adhere to profession guidelines for confidentiality, procedural requirements and conduct.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Length of contract:  193 days

 

 

EVALUATION PROCEDURE:

 This position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Special Services.
