TITLE: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL – HIGH SCHOOL
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Master’s Degree in educational administration with program emphasis in secondary or elementary instruction.
- Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
- Ability to understand instructional problems and to assist teachers in their solution;
- Knowledge of trends in high school education and ability to convey and interpret them to staff; Ability to conceptualize the total high school program;
- Ability to supervise clerical personnel;
- Ability to work with supplementary service personnel;
- Knowledge of school accounting and budgeting;
- Ability to organize administrative services.
- Experience: Experience as a teacher mandatory. Experience as a principal or administrative intern desirable.
REPORTS TO: High School Principal
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Responsible for providing assistance to the Principal in the administration of the total school program.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Up and down motion in the office; bending stretching; and lifting up to 20 pounds. Mobility in and around office/school area.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, parents and students
- Supervises attendance and discipline
- Supervises all scheduling and classification of all students
- Share responsibilities for the supervision and evaluation of all staff members
- Annually builds a master schedule
- Assists in the orientation of new teachers and with the in service education of the faculty
- Share responsibilities for orientation of all students and helps to promote a positive wholesome attitude in all students in order to develop a high degree of loyalty to the school and community
- Assigned, at various times, to carry out all the functions assigned to the building principal
- Assists with the supervision of security as it pertains to parking lots and the building in general
- Meets with parents and students to develop, write and communicate 504 accommodations
- Attends IEP meetings as administrative representative
- Supervises students and spectators at school activities and functions
- Assists in the supervision of building maintenance and custodial staff
- Assists in the assignment of all teachers and other staff members
- Acts in an advisory capacity to the principal in matters relating to the formulation and execution of school policies
- Assists in developing and maintaining all safety and emergency programs such as conducting fire and severe weather drills
- Works with teachers, students, and parents in solving classroom problems
- Works with students in solving personal problems related to school
- Supervises the school when the Principal is absent from the building
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Length of contract: 208 days
EVALUATION PROCEDURE:
This position will be evaluated annually by the School Principal |
