Job Title: Educators Rising Teacher Leader Position Overview: The Educators Rising Teacher Leader serves as the advisor for a local Educators Rising Chapter and plays a key role in cultivating the next generation of educators. This individual fosters student engagement through chapter activities and ensures members have access to the academic, leadership, and co-curricular opportunities provided by Educators Rising South Dakota. The Teacher Leader is responsible for maintaining an active chapter, supporting student development, and promoting participation in state and national events.
Essential Functions & Duties:
1. Maintains an active and engaged Educators Rising Chapter at the local level.
2. Supervises and advises students during regular chapter meetings and activities.
3. Encourages participation in and assists with the organization of student projects, presentations, and competitions.
4. Connects students to the academic and co-curricular opportunities offered by Educators Rising SD, including dual credit courses, apprenticeship opportunities, competitions, and state and national events.
5. Monitors and determines the eligibility of all chapter members, ensuring alignment with Educators Rising guidelines.
6. Maintains accurate records and inventories of all materials, supplies, and equipment related to chapter activities.
7. Provides supervision and support to students participating in State and National Educators Rising conferences, events, and leadership opportunities.
8. Collaborates with the school’s Activities Director during the budgeting process for chapter events and operations.
9. Coordinates fundraising efforts in alignment with school policies and with approval from the Principal and/or Activities Director.
10. Oversees the Educators Rising Trust & Agency Account to ensure proper financial stewardship.
11. Performs additional duties as assigned to support the success of the chapter and its members.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Passion for mentoring aspiring educators.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of Educators Rising programming (Specifically TAP and Gateway to Teaching) or willingness to learn.
• Ability to coordinate student travel, fundraising, and participation in academic events.
• Commitment to promoting student engagement in co-curricular learning experiences, including dual credit and apprenticeships.
