TITLE:  CUSTODIAN

QUALIFICATIONS:                                              

  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. Prior custodial experience preferred or related experiences.
  3. An interest in learning basic maintenance skills in carpentry, electrical and plumbing.
  4. Possess personal communication skills and the ability to work with a diversion of Individuals
  5. Has a work record, which demonstrates consistence in attendance and work habits.
  6. Background checks required for final candidates.
  7. Such other qualifications to the above requirements that the board may find acceptable and appropriate.

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To maintain assigned classrooms, office spaces, and other facility areas in a clean, orderly manner and in state of good repair.

 

REPORTS TO:  Head Custodian and Building Principal

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
  2. Refinish floors as required Stripping, Waxing etc.
  3. Dusting, polishing furniture and other woodwork.
  4. Clean, sand, refinish and adjust and fix desks and other furniture.
  5. Empty and clean waste receptacles.
  6. Clean restrooms.
  7. Wash windows and walls.
  8. Clean and Polishing metal surfaces.
  9. Maintenance and non-technical repair of equipment.
  10. Assist with moving, arranging furniture and equipment.
  11. Set up auditoriums, gyms and classrooms for special meetings or events.
  12. Basic electrical maintenance: change fixtures, replace light bulbs and outlet covers.
  13. Painting as required.
  14. Basic plumbing as required.
  15. Basic carpentry as required.
  16. Cleans and maintains building and grounds.
  17. Assists with food services employees in cleaning kitchens and eating areas and unloading commodities.
  18. Sees that all hazards to the safety of the students, teachers, and visitors are removed and/or repaired.
  19. Sees that broken or weakened chairs, desks, tables, or other equipment are repaired and/or removed from active service until repair or replacement is completed.
  20. Maintains grounds, including picking up trash, snow removal and assists with athletic field/track responsibilities (marking).
  21. Additional duties that may be required or assigned.
  22. Mandatory attendance on dates substitutes choose to take jobs/work

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The board shall offer a letter of agreement with wages and benefits to be determined as delineated in the classified employee handbook subject to the approval of the superintendent or his/her designee and the school board.  Hours and time schedules to be determined by the business manager with the approval of the superintendent.

Head Custodian with input from Building Principal.
